OUR STORY

Inspired by Food Trucks

Recognizing that many Mexican restaurants in America lean towards a Tex-Mex style, we noticed a lack of authentic Mexican flavors and spices, particularly in tacos. Drawing inspiration from our childhood experiences of enjoying tacos in Mexico, we embarked on a journey to sample various street tacos across the Midwest. This sparked the idea to bring the genuine taste of Mexican street tacos—often found at taco trucks—back to Minnesota. But we didn’t stop there; we aimed higher and decided to create a full-fledged restaurant to share these vibrant flavors with our community!

Oscar

Before the store opened Oscar worked with Jose Herrera for 23 years. That gave him experience in the food industry. He had always envisioned one day owning a restaurant with wife that they could call their own. It took 2 years of hard work and patience and dedication. Their goal is to bring back the taste of Mexican food from Jalisco that they grew up eating to Owatonna, MN.

Salvador

Salvador: he is from Jalisco, his parents and family all come from the food industry. His passion in food started with an interest in watching his family members make salsa. He decided to come to America for a better life and met Jose Herrera who worked along side with. The two had special bond and same style of cooking passion. Jose gave him the opportunity to move to Minnesota and help him open up his restaurant Plaza Morena. He had always dreamed of owning his own restaurant. So it was an easy decision to accept the opportunity to work with Jose. Salvador worked with Jose for 24 years until opening Oscar also shared his dream of having a restaurant. The 2 worked hard and the rest is history.
